2011 Best Movie Posters

[10] The Tree of Life
Love the use of photography and space.
Every image is compelling but not overwhelming as a whole.

[9] Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol
Love the simplicity of the single image and the use of negative space.
They could have done the typical Tom Cruise face shot, but I like that they went a different direction and tried something new.

[8] I Am
Not a completely new concept, but I think it went really well with what the movie is about and was executed nicely.

[7] The Ides of March
Ryan Gosling and George Clooney's face on 1 poster would usually be too plain and mainstream.
But this poster captures the audience while accurately selling the movie.
Also, the two faces combined is seamless.

[6] J. Edgar
Love the use of texture and color here.
Without the typical face shot of Leo, they went with a unique approach which is always refreshing to see as a designer.

[5] Men in Black III
The use of just text is so greatly executed here.
Making certain parts bold to form Will Smith's face is enough of a character sell without being too plain or boring.

[4] The Hobbit Unexpected Journey
The title is not even featured in this poster, which really is intriguing.
And unless you're familiar with the story, the concept is a little hard to get.
But leaving a little mystery to a movie is never a bad thing, and I think this is a great example of that.

[3] Martha Marcy May Marlene
This is an excellent example of blending multiple images to create a dynamic and interesting poster.
The whole composition is compelling and captivating without being overwhelming.

[2] Dark Knight Rises
I'm a huge fan of the latest Batman posters.
This is just another example of the brilliance behind the brand and the movies.
Also, it continues the genius behind the previous Dark Knight posters without being redundant.
Plus the simple shape these deteriorating buildings form is so simple yet so interesting to look at.

[1] Shame
I'm a big fan of simple ideas and excellent executions.
This is a prime example of those two traits.
Simple but yet effective enough to sell the movie.
